I enjoyed reading The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt. A lot of people, throughout all these years, after the book was published, called Goldratt the genius. I cannot disagree with the fact, that his book is something absolutely amazing. It teaches us the management lessons in entertaining way. The text of this book is easy to comprehend. It sticks to our memory, and can actually influence our look at management and business problem solving. I would like to talk more about several lessons from the book that I found the most useful and smart. While the book reveals a lot of interesting thoughts of how to make things better not only at work, but also in personal life, I decided to concentrate on the ideas of how to make the atmosphere at work more …show more content…
Work smarter, not harder Throughout my life, I had an opportunity to work with people and supervisors with different approaches to work and productivity. Some believe, that the harder you work – the more productive you will be. They cannot stand the situation, when someone or something is not constantly involved in the work process. In my opinion, the goal is to never stop challenging yourself, and always strive for improvement. Importance of the team Goldratt’s book does not only reveal Alex’s relationships with his family and with Jonah, but also demonstrates his ability to communicate with his team at the plant. The team that was able to find the solutions, consisted of Alex, Lou, Bob and Stacey. All these people together were able to come up with the ideas of how to improve productivity and save the business. It is important for all of us to have people we can rely on. The ability to listen to others and be open minded is extremely important for decision-making process. The best practice is to organize the meetings with the team, where everyone can share their vision and suggest the plan of
