Both Spencer and Ostrander within their writings tackle the very sticky issue of God 's place in a college students life and even more challenging his role within higher education. Spencer within his writing “The Good,The Bad and The Ugly” goes about dealing with this challenging issue by breaking down the issue into two questions: What is education? And What is an appropriate attitude toward education? While answering the second question concerning the attitude Spencer talks about two different attitudes one can hold. Another weakness in Spencer 's writing is that a lot of the points he made to show the difference between those with a heart for truth and and drug addicts could be used for the future gain addicted group. Ostrander on the other hand despite the title of his writing “Why College Matters To God”, he focuses on the reason why students should a Christian institution instead of Why college matters to God. Ostrander 's misleading title is the biggest weakness in his writing. I was able to personally connect with Spencer 's writing more so than Ostrander 's. Spencer 's writing helped me to see that my motive for wanting to gain knowledge was wrong. Like many college students I 'm motivated by the success I can obtain. I push myself hard in school because I believe that after graduation I will get an amazing job and prosper in life. I wanna be wealthy, and I let that goal motivate me to do well in school. I 'm placing a higher power on the concept of success and money, rather then allow God to be my all, my motivator. Ostrander 's writing did not hit home as strongly as Spencer 's did but it made me appreciate more the opportunity I have here at Eastern, and
