For many Christians the importance, responsibility and connectivity of evangelism and worship were unknown or misunderstood. Evangelism and worship are responsibilities given to all Christians as they travel through their daily walk. In their book, “The Great Commission Worship Biblical Principles for Worship-Based Evangelism”, David Wheeler and Vernon M. Whaley take the reader through a journey to understanding the importance of evangelism and worship, how these two concepts are interrelated, and provide practical application to fulfill the Great Commission and grow as a God seeking worshipper.

I have experienced an evangelism visit where the incorrect words for the acrostic and Scripture where used, but the Holy Spirit was at work and the individual prayed to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus teaches the disciples not to worry about what they will say or how they will defend themselves, because “the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you out to say” (Luke 12:12). This is encouragement that when the time comes to share the gospel the Holy Spirit will move on their behalf. Nonetheless, when Jesus makes this statement it is not the disciple’s first day on the job. At this point the disciples experienced miraculous healing, watched as Jesus controlled nature, seen demons cast out, and heard numerous teachings from Christ, including those displaying the Kingdom of God. Each participant will be encouraged to purchase “The Great Commission Worship Biblical Principles for Worship-Based Evangelism” by David Wheeler and Vernon M. Whaley. At this point I don’t have the complete lesson plan developed, but my expectation is that the team can cover one chapter each week. During our regular practice as a group we will discuss the reading assignment from the prior week. I will then take some time to teach key points in the upcoming chapter. As we get to toward the end of the book and begin discussing how Great Commission Worship can be reproduced, those on the worship team will be encouraged work through process of becoming a Great Commission Worshipper, with the expectation each team member will report to the group the following week. This teaching and learning opportunity will take our worship team through the summer. For our ministry this is an ideal time for evangelism in our area. Along with having opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to those within our sphere of influence, the summer brings an influx of “associates”, “acquaintances”, and “person x” into the resort town in which we
