The most memorable thing that Gatsby say in the book is that he can change the past when he talking to Nick.This is significant to the plot and also to learning about Gatsby himself. It is the point in the story where you see how far gone that Gatsby is in his obsession with Daisy because he speaks so whole-heartedly with Nick that he believes in the idea of rewriting the past and starting where he and Daisy left off. We knew that Gatsby was in love with Daisy and would do anything for her which wa evident in buying an extravagant house and even firing all his staff to make sure their affair was kept a secret. The comment he makes about trying to start off where they left off is a verbal confession of his delusional thoughts because there was
