The movie certainly encapsulated what the 1920s “roaring” and captures the spirit of the 1920s in all of its liquor-fueled, Charleston-dancing glory with the loud parties, extravagant outfits, fast cars, over-the-top fits of drunken joy and rage. With its perfect mix of mystery, romance, and heartbreak, it is the great American novel. The book's themes of unattainable love, long for the past, and wealthy acting as both a facade and a security blanket aren't specific to the 1920s but the story of Jay Gatsby is timeless and relatable. They both portray a lot of potential and it's a sensation on your emotions. It has a lot of similar aspects such as Gatsby being head over heels for daisy and Leo Dicaprio plays a fantastic role expressing the emotions that Gatsby feels in the book; especially in the scene where toms investigation leads to confrontation at the Plaza in chapter 7 when tom points out Gatsby’s facade and predicts that he will be unable to care for Daisy if his life has been a …show more content…

In the movie their also missing a lot of details from the book like towards the end they didn't even show nick visiting the Buchanan’s, him going to talk to Jordan baker, or even his lifestyle and how he lived after it? even during the funeral part because in the movie nobody showed up but in the book his dad comes and gives nick insight into the teal James Gatz. I question why they thought it was a good idea to act like nick was in a psychologist room because yes it did play an important role and he was Gatsby's only true friend, but it didn’t destroy his life; it really just made him realize the cruelty of people and taught a huge life
