After those events, Nick receives an invitation from his neighbor named Jay Gatsby (in fact, he is the only one Gatsby has ever sent an invitation to), to a party which is attended by rich, elites, and sophisticated people. Later that day, he goes to the party and bumps into Jordan Baker. As Nick makes his way, looking for the host who sent him the invitation, he finds Gatsby who introduced himself to Nick. Gatsby, as Nick observes, is a gracious host yet he only used to observe people from below as if he’s seeking, rather, expecting someone. One day, Gatsby and Nick traveled to East Egg to have lunch with the Buchanans and Jordan Baker. Tom later confirmed his suspicion to be true, that Gatsby and his wife Daisy are having a secret affair. Daisy can’t take heat, so she tells the group to drive to the city to let off some steam. Gatsby and Daisy who are now not ashamed of their love affair drive off together in Tom's car. Meanwhile, Tom, Nick, and Jordan drives together in Gatsby's car. On their way to the city, Tom stops by Wilson's gas station and learns that Wilson already finds out about his wife, Myrtle's secret affair but doesn't with who. Wilson plans to take Myrtle out West to get away which Tom secretly felt dismayed about. The group arrives and ends up at the Plaza hotel where they continued drinking and soon, the hot-headed Tom get Gatsby started and forced him to admit his true identity. Gatsby also tighten the rope for Daisy and tells her to tell Tom that she never loved Tom. However, she said that she has always loved Tom. This makes Gatsby decide that he and Daisy are leaving Tom which Tom apparently does not permit. Being the authoritarian guy that he is, Tom ordered Gatsby and Daisy to head home.
