In the book, it I evident hoe Gatsby is still on thinking and acting in the past. In this chapters Gatsby past is old, and the reader can now see that Gatsby wasn't always as affluents, but it doesn't only talk about the wealth and power, but the entire idea of who Gatsby is. In the book, we learn that Gatsby’s real name is James Gatz instead of Jay Gatsby this just goes to symbolize the transition to the new person Gatsby is. Besides that is known to the readers the past between Gatsby and Daisy, Gatsby has been madly in love with Daisy since many years before, and he has the idea of how the past and the relationship they had, can be the perfect future for both, as well as how Gatsby still thinks of the past on the way he looks at Daisy. Gatsby Met Daisy when they were young and still has the idea of this wealthy, unreachable, adventurous girl, instead of the actual reality, that Daisy is not only a wife but a mother. …show more content…

The past can be seen as one of the main themes throughout this chapter, but in the novel, especially in this chapter it goes to develop Gatsby character, we can see his want to strive for happiness, how thinks, if he gets Daisy that he will finally be happy, but also everything he has can be seen as a way to go back and contradict what would have been suspected of his outcome of life in the past. In the book i is talked about many of Gatsby things and the author uses Daisy to bring some of those elements, it is believed that Gatsby was in love with Daisy but also the idea, and the things that Daisy had, as well as later on in time Daisy is said to contact the difference between the old, and the new
