1. Gatsby has large and rapid mode swings for example, he “literally growled” and immediately after “without…exultation” radiated “ a new-well being”, which suggests he is emotionally unstable (95). 2.Gatsby gives off mixes signals, for he implies he wants alone time with Daisy when he looks between Nick and her with “tense unhappy eyes”, although when Nick leaves, giving the pair some privacy, Gatsby follows him sharing that he thinks, “[the meeting] is a mistake” (85). 3. The “faint flow of thunder”, which is present outside while Gatsby is meeting with Daisy, foreshadows flow of the pair’s relationship; where many small events will lead to a large burst of pent up emotion, just like thunder is the precursor to a storm.
The Great Gatsby Have you ever wondered why Gatsby decided to come back and find Daisy? In the book, The Great Gatsby, written by Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby pursues to find his ex-lover Daisy by buying a house and throwing massive parties across the bay hoping she would wander into his party sometime. Gatsby has a true love for Daisy and he is very eager to find her so he uses Nick as a way to reel her into his hands. The main character Nick is seen throughout the novel as a bystander and Gatsby’s new good friend.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, characters have very distinct identities that develop throughout the book and many inferences are needed to understand the characters. One example of this is Daisy Buchanan. Daisy Buchanan cares greatly about wealth and is a very careless person. Throughout the novel, many of her decisions are due to her greed and carelessness, even though those decisions may not be the best decisions for her. Daisy displays her greed throughout the novel; she marries Tom Buchanan because of his wealth.
Through Gatsby’s actions, he desperately created himself (wanted) to be with Daisy. Through these quotes, Gatsby shows the amount of danger he will deal with to be with Daisy. “Gatsby bought his new house so that Daisy would be just across the bay. ”(Fitzgerald 78). Gatsby moved near Daisy, acting like he was a stranger but Gatsby had wanted to be with her for five years.
Even Daisy and her daughter didn’t seem to be a true relationship. However Nick and Gatsby are truly friends. Even though Nick said he disapproved of Gatsby, beginning to end, he didn’t really disapprove of Gatsby, just his shady dealing on how he got his start. But as a person, Nick wholeheartedly was with Gatsby. Nick knew he was a good person.
Nick and Gatsby become close friends and learns that he loves his Daisy. Throughout the story Nick learns more and more secrets about these characters until the truth came out. Once the truth came out about Daisy and Gatsby’s love, in the heat of the moment, Daisy runs over Tom’s mistress Myrtle, and not long after Gatsby dies too. In both stories the main characters search for their true love by sacrificing a part of themselves and conquering trouble.
The tale of Gatsby reveals the intent that he had, to do anything that would please Daisy. Significantly in the last chapters, Nick observes and picks up on small hints to which showed Gatsby’s intent, “[Gatsby] hadn't once ceased looking at Daisy, and [Nick thinks] he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well-loved eyes.” Which displays the deep consideration Gatsby had for what Daisy thought of him, and wanting to make the present like their love in the past once again, and wanting to “fix everything just the way it was before. ”(Chapter 6) Moreover, the relationship between Gatsby and Daisy displays how love can be detrimental to the human condition.

Gatsby is trying to win back the love of Daisy, Nick's cousin and Gatsby's ex-lover, while trying to fight back against Tom, Daisy's husband who cheats on her with a mistress. Fitzgerald uses Gatsby's dedication to fixing his relationship with Daisy to reveal that love can blind you and make you oblivious to what is happening around you. To start off, Gatsby wanting to run away with Daisy, when she has a life already in the West Egg.
Fitzgerald provides plenty of scenes in The Great Gatsby supporting the ideas whether Gatsby’s love was affectionate, obsession, or objectification. Fitzgerald shows that throughout the story, Gatsby slowly becomes more obsessed with Daisy as he draws closer and closer to be with her. By the end of the book, Gatsby becomes obsessed with Daisy. He only thinks about her and analyze everything in her life. Even in the beginning when the reader finally meets Gatsby, his obsession shows.
In Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Daisy is portrayed as a modern woman; she is sophisticated, careless and beautifully shallow. Daisy knows who she is, and what it takes for her to be able to keep the lifestyle she grew up in, and this adds to her carelessness and her feigned interest in life. In all, Daisy is a woman who will not sacrifice material desires or comfort for love or for others, and her character is politely cruel in this way. Daisy’s main strength, which buoyed her throughout her youth and when she was in Louisville, is her ability to know what was expected of her and feign cluelessness.
Gatsby was born in a poor family in the twentieth century. At that time, American dream was a very popular word among the young men just like Gatsby. Its core meaning explaining that anyone in the United States, so long as with enough effort, can enjoy a better life. Because of the deep influence affected by it, he had a great ambition to win wealth and position. He thought that, as long as making arduous efforts and struggling for them, he would achieve his dream definitely.
Throughout the book Gatsby had been trying to reach a goal. This goal being to see his past lover, Daisy. Gatsby had met Daisy five years prior to his meeting with Nick. Gatsby had to go and join the war leaving Daisy behind and her to marry Tom. Gatsby knew about the events going on in Daisy 's life and he strove so many limits just to try to reach her.
Throughout the book Gatsby uses his actions and events that happened in the past to either bring it back or move on from it. His love for Daisy started in the past, and it is so strong that he wants to bring back what they had and not leave it. Nick takes us through his story as he learns more about this character who, for everyone else in the book, is a mystery and no one really knows where he came from and what his past really was. The way he started off getting his money doing illegal actions was not exactly the right thing. When Daisy leaves Gatsby for Tom he is devastated because Daisy was everything to him and he wanted to recreate what they had in the past.
Gatsby falls in love with Daisy the first minute he meets her and never stops loving her even though she has obviously moved on. Gatsby does everything he can to be closer to her like buying “that house so that Daisy would be just across the bay” (78). Gatsby knows that if he can get the girl of his dreams he will not feel lonely anymore. " He talked a lot about the past… he wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had been confused and disordered since then, but if he could once return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was” (87).
