The Great Gatsby The book “ The Great Gatsby” is a great explanation of a love story. The author has greatly portrayed early 20th century lifestyle. The author “ F. Scott Fitzgerald really shows married life and love relationships back in the 20th century. The book is a very well written book and should be required to read in school in the U.S, so people can learn more about the 20th century. It contains a lot of important themes that relate to the real world. Some are shown below with quotes that relate to the book. The theme that “ People can never relive the past” in my opinion is a true and as you read the book you can agree that the book addresses the same thing. A quote to support this from the book is “ It was four o'clock in the morning then, and if we’d of raise the blinds we’d seen the sunlight”(Fitzgerald 70). This quote tells that they were scared to raise the blinds they would see the sunlight but they wished that they could relive that night therefore, the past. Another quote that supports this theme in the book is “ He’s dead now. He used to be my best friend years ago” (93). A quote that strongly portrays this theme is “ I don’t think it’s so much that, argued Lucille skeptically, it’s more that he was a German spy during the war” (44). People think the main character is someone who he is not, so he has to live a lie pretending who he is not. Another quote I think is important is “ He’s afraid, he’s waited so long. He thought you might be offended. You see he’s a regular tough underneath it all”(78). Daisy thinks that Gatsby is a different which he is not and Nick one of the main characters in the book explains it to her. The quote shows that Gatsby is acting to be someone he is
