F. Scott Fitzgerald is a famous author that gained recognition in the 1920s. His works highlighted the extravagant lifestyle that was prominent during that time. The Great Gatsby was one of Fitzgerald’s most widely known novels. It is the epitome of the time period that Fitzgerald focused so heavily on. F. Scott Fitzgerald and his works, especially The Great Gatsby, have stood the test of time and are still considered literature masterpieces even today.

After being revised in Rome, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald’s crowning achievement, was published on April 10, 1925. The novel is a first-person narrative which follows the life of Jay Gatsby. The narrator, Nick Carraway, retells of his experiences with the mysterious Jay Gatsby on Long Island in 1922. The book begins by highlighting the glitz and glam that was found in the United States during the 1920s, but by the end, showcases human nature at its finest by uncovering the deceptions and shadiness that led to Gatsby’s standing during the book. Nick Carraway, who is the narrator of the novel, is from Minnesota. He attended Yale University and fought in World War I. He also becomes friends with Gatsby after attending some of the parties the man threw. Over the course of the novel, Carraway learns that Gatsby is not who he portrays himself as and actually became wealthy from his criminal activities.
