He finds a way to achieve this dream, and surrounds himself in a lavish lifestyle that doesn't end up being a reality at all. The goals of the characters in this book wants to be wealthy and get everything they want, no matter how narcissistic they become and reveal what they want most out of their lives. Gatsby's dream is to have a perfect, happy life with Daisy, but doesn't realize that his dreams may not become a reality, if they ever were realistic at all.
