The Great Gatsby Novel and Films Novels and movies are very different but work together rather well. A movie shows the story and the novel tells it. The Great Gatsby novel goes more in-depth and helps the reader see the rhetorical purpose that F. Scott Fitzgerald wanted to get through. F. Scott Fitzgerald used many rhetorical strategies in The Great Gatsby to get his readers to understand the purpose of this novel, He used Imagery, metaphors, similes, personification, and more. The 1974 film The Great Gatsby did not really capture as much as the novel, it was rather strange and had many random things, and it was more out of order compared to the novel. The main rhetorical purpose that was conveyed in the novel, and both films was how amazing and successful Gatsby could be without Daisy in his life. Clearly, Gatsby is very blind to the whole thought of him living without Daisy, Gatsby can not let go of Daisy. He is determined to have her with him for the rest of his life. He is so in love that he fails to see that Daisy is just holding him back from his full potential. In the novel, the symbolism of this helps show how Gatsby could have anything he wanted but only if he was alone. Gatsby's whole world Cardenas 2 revolved around Daisy.Although it sounds sweet and cute, it is not a good thing that he threw his whole life away for some girl, Gatsby was held back from a better fulfilling life over being in love with some girl that had gone off and married someone else as he was gone, If Daisy was truly in love with Gatsby she would have not found someone else to go too, which just shows how Gatsby wasted his time trying to be with Daisy for years.Throughout the 2013 film,Daisy showed some signs of unsureness with Gatsby that clearly everyone but Gatby could …show more content…

When Gatsby died no one went to his funeral. Another life lesson from The Great Gatsby would be that it is not always easy to leave your past behind. Sure they say leave the past in the past, just look forward but the past has a huge impact on the future so it is not necessarily easy to let go of it. There were plenty more lessons in this novel like not everything is what it appears to be, live in the moment, money can not buy you happiness,love or friends. Although there are many more lessons in The Great Gatsby, The ones mentioned just now are the most important they are the main ones because they are the ones that are shown clearly in both the two films and the novel. Overall The Great Gatsby novel and the two films are very good and work together
