Sales promotions are promotions used by companies to advertise their products, goods, or services. Examples of sales promotions are contests, coupons, mail in offers, product samples, and rebates (Tanner and Raymond, 2010). Sales promotions can be used to increase immediate sales, stimulate interest, recruit new customers, or keep current customers interested in their products. There are many types of sales promotions and the ones discussed in this paper will include sweepstakes, point of sale displays, and price deals.
HGTV or Home and Gardening Television is a television channel that features programming on home improvement, gardening, and crafting. The dream home for 2017 features what HGTV describes as “a waterfront paradise with furnishings from Wayfair and located in the vacation destination of St. Simmons Island, Georgia” (Dream Home 2017, 2016). Every year, HGTV features its dream home complete with pictures of every room and allows entrants to enter on their website and also allows entrants to get extra entries by visiting their co-sponsors websites. For example, by visiting realtor.com, entrants can receive an extra entry. This is the 21st year that HGTV has done this sweepstakes since it has been wildly successful in that it has generated enormous traffic to its website acting as a vehicle of advertisement. However, not every country has the infrastructure to make giving away such an expensive prize, did I mention it
