From many centuries men are always given immense power over women and are treated especially they always make the important decisions. In This Novel, a society named Gilead is a strictly hierarchical society, were men are treated the same way as they get to make the decision and have all the freedom but there’s a twist men think that they control everything, and they have all the right but in reality, the government controls them smartly. The whole country is run by the government in the novel government plays a big role. The government has categories for men like solider, angel, guardian, eye and commander (the highest class). They don’t have a family mom dad or siblings to express to. Living like that the men have forgotten how to express. “I want you to kiss me, said the commander” (Page 156). On the first personal meeting with offered he just straight up asks for a kiss, his emotions are all over the place he doesn't know how to talk or take it forward he seems confused. The government can change their positions all the things are controlled by them. The men in the society even the commanders cannot give their own opinion on political issues. Some people are in the minority of disliking the government, but it doesn’t matter because it’s in minority, most men fear the government, or they just accepted to live with what is given, by looking at how women are treated they accept their life’s and keep going. “A rat is in a maze is free to go anywhere as long it stays in the maze” (Page 190). This quote also goes for men they have their freedom until they follow the government
