A Critical Analysis of the Novel The Help

A novel written by Kathryn Stockett. She is an American writer who was known for her first appearance novel, The Help in 2009, which was mainly focusing on African-American servants working in white families’ homes in Mistsissippi in the period of 1960s. However, due to her geographical birth place and the familiarity of the south and its ancient inheritance of slavery and racism has motivated her and informed her more to write this novel.

The novel was published in 2009; The Help, many fundamentals are originally from early southern novels. However, such fundamentals include; traditions, heritage, religion, landscape, costumes, humor, race and the collaboration between the black and white people. The novel structures three main characters, Aibileen, Minny, and Skeeter. Skeeter was Elizabeth’s best friend who comes back to the place where she grew up, Mississippi, straight from school with a certificate. Aibileen was a black women who worked for a white family and she was the one who took care of Mae Mobley. However, all through the novel, Aibileen does everything she can to help Mae Mobley's self-regard and tries to show her about social equality and racial uniformity.
