Louis Zamperini had a very devastating life and was very lucky to survive. Louis went through one of the toughest things a person could ever go through. He spent 47 days stranded on a life boat, he spent 2 years at Japanese POW camps. His heroic story is very terrifying, he was one of the few that survived as a prisoner during this war. Louis greatness all started when the day he discovered he loved to run track. He was a very troubled kid, always getting picked on. Also did illegal stuff, he drank and smoked then soon as his older brother found out about that stuff he put an end to it right away. Louis brother thought joining track was resolve his problems. Louis was not on his side, he did not want to do track. Zamperini was the worst on the track team when he first joined, his brother realized he wasn't doing good and he wanted Louis to stay in track so he trained him, every day his brother made him go run to get in the best shape. He then began to train by himself, he took pride in this sport. He was getting so amazing he broke the high school mile record with a time of 4 minutes and 21.2 seconds. He was impressing colleges so he then got a scholarship to the University of Southern California for track. Zamperini got even better in college and before you know it he was going to New York for the Olympic Trials for the 5,000 meter
