The journey often consists of many different stages involving the ordinary world is the background of the heroes and describes the personal history of the character or the Life, Light, Conscious world symbolizing the stability of each character. The next step of the cycle is the call to Adventure which may begin when outside forces cause increased pressures it may rise up from deep within the character and the hero must begin facing the new changes to himself both mentally and spiritually. Next, the hero’s may refuse the call to be the hero feels the fear of the unknown and tries to turn away from the journey but for only a small amount of time, which may express the unexpected dangers and uncertainty lying ahead of him. These situations addressed by the writers/creators stress the various points of the cosmogonic cycle whether or not they see it themself. Some examples of these are best addressed and shown to us in various episodes throughout all eleven season when it because relevant to the episode or the case upon which the team is currently working, such as when during “Episode 100” during Season 5 where Hayley, ex-wife, is murdered by “The Boston Reaper” who later fights with Hotchner and is beaten to death in the process. This shows the anger that Hotchner has built up that will cause him to go looking for this guy for quite some time after finding out he killed his wife. This situation best represents the separation or loss of an ally to show the emotional and humaneness still left in the uncertain hero.
