Torso Murders Before the murders started the city was getting hit hard by the great depression but they still grew, However during 1935-1938 there was a string of murders known as “The Kingsbury Run Murders also known as ‘The Torso Murders’”. These murders were ruthless and occurred everywhere. Most of the people murdered weren't identified. This string of murders will change the community and government forever. Even though this man was never caught and identified, they still had their suspects. During the time that this was taking place Cleveland was hit hard by the great depression which just made these so much worse. In September of 1935, two boys racing down the steep embankment of Jackass Hill ran right into a “Dead man with no head,”(Nickel). After these first two bodies were found they started to name the killer “The Butcher of Kingsbury Run'' (Farley). Another place where a body was found was in a creek that ran across East 90th Street. They had described this killer as coldly efficient, and as relentless as an executioner wanting to kill (Nickel). After the murders had started they arrested a man called Frank Dolezal in July of 1939 a couple years later due to police suspicion. He was later ruled out as a suspect. Also during the time of the murder they sent firefighter, cops, and paramedics to help with the burning of all the makeshift shacks in the homeless area under the bridge due to them hoping it would stop all the murders, but in reality it did absolutely nothing (Badal) When the murders had finished the killer was never identified but they suspected the killer to be Dr.X, also known as, Eliot Ness. This man had killed 12 people in his time of murdering people
