In J.R.Rs book The Hobbit and A Long Way Gone they main characters go on a Hero 's journey. They are both Heros, but not in the same way. Even though these Heros don 't wear capes and shoot lasers from their eyes they are still Heros in there own way. We know this because they go on a Hero 's journey. For example, In The Hobbit by J.R.R there is a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins he goes on a journey. He is acomped by Gandalf and Co. on this journey he faced many dangers, but he enjoyed going on the adventure. Also In A Long Way Gone a boy named Ishmael Beah goes on a different kind of adventure. One where the prize is not a pot of gold or a million dollars but; where he gets to live out the rest of his life without running from terrorists or fighting …show more content…

There are some really big differences and some small differences. For example, The Hobbit is a fiction book this means none of these events have actually happened, and none of the characters are real people. A Long Way Gone is a book based on real events that happened and real people who were living. Another differences between the two is A Long Way Gone is about things that could and have happened to our world like war and terrorism. The Hobbit is about events that will most likely never happen. Giants playing catch with a bolder, fighting monsters and slaying dragons. There are small differences as well like in The Hobbit the author is purposely making Bilbo go through the Hero 's Journey. In A Long Way Gone the boy does not realize that he was going through a Hero 's Journey, nor was it his plan to go through all of that. This is a smaller difference. Overall there were many differences between A Long Way Gone and The Hobbit.
