The classic fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings was written by an English writer John Ronald Reuel Tolkien and published in 1954. Since the publication of the book, the book has been reprinted many times, each time finding new fans and has been translated into 38 languages. This novel is the sequel to the story of The Hobbit, but it was it which became the author's central work, partly because it was intended for an adult audience from the very beginning, while The Hobbit was written as a children's novel. At the beginning of the new millennium, the first motion picture appeared (three in all) based on the novel, thereby launching a new wave of popularity around the world. Characters and Plot On the pages of the novel, there is a whole world in which live and participate in the events of the book numerous protagonists and antagonists. The central character is Frodo the hobbit (the small inhabitant of the Shire) on whose shoulders lies the salvation of Middle-earth (the big continent, which hosts numerous states). Frodo's uncle Bilbo finds a ring of absolute power, which he cherishes carefully before the events of the Lord of the Rings. Frodo receives from his uncle a ring, and together with it the burden that he has to bear. Frodo with three friends goes on a campaign to the lord of the elves to hide the ring. From this moment the adventures of the hobbits begin. Having reached Rivendell, they learn that the ring must be destroyed and it can be done only where it was created. They gather in a new campaign, in which representatives of all races of protagonists (people, elves, and dwarfs) are sent to help them.
