The book I read for the third nine weeks was The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. Bilbo was recruited by Gandalf to go on a quest with dwarves to retake Erebor. On the adventure Bilbo becomes friends with them and the dragon was killed. It is in third person it never says “I” unless someone spoke, but it shows the thoughts of Bilbo. The story is in Middle Earth in sometime in the past and before The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The major form of conflict was person vs. fate I know this because Thorin gets his kingdom back but dies in the end. Thorin Oakenshield was a major character because he is the “king” of Erebor and wants to take to take this chance to seize Erebor back from Smaug the Terrible. Tolkien’s message is just even the smallest deeds and people can do great things. This applies to people in general because even if you are small compared to someone else you may have the bigger heart, and you can change the chorus of the future. The message applies to me because I may be out numbered but if I stay with my heart nothing can mentally get in my way. I liked the book because I could connect with some of the dwarves, like Fili because he is the youngest and he has an over brother, Kili, and i have an over protective sister. I also liked it because I was crying when Thorin died because I am a very sensitive person and Thorin was one of my favorites. The book reinforced my opinion on it because I like fantasy stories and I liked the whole middle earth movies. I would recommend The Hobbit if you can keep straight fifteen different characters who show up a lot. Although there are a ton of characters iris easier to keep track of them as the book goes on, and I would also recommend it for those with creative and loose
