Anne Frank Compare and Contrast The Diary of Anne Frank takes place Amsterdam, Netherlands. In the book Anne and her family are Jews in World War II. Because of the oppression of the Jews, Anne and her family are forced to go into hiding. Anne, her mom Edith, her dad Otto, her sister Margot, Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel.
Elie Wiesel and Anne Frank both lived through the Holocaust. Elie spent most of this time in Auschwitz, Poland and Anne spent most of her time in Bergen-Belson, Germany. Although they both had different experiences, it is obvious they both endured many hardships; however both Wiesel and Frank lived through life and death circumstances. But their lives ended so differently. Elie Wiesel’s life during the Holocaust was devastating, for example the passage states “he was starved and badly treated”, “both his parents and younger sister were killed during the Holocaust”.
E.K. Hornbeck writes for the Baltimore Herald as a journalist. He travels to the small town of Hillsboro to write a paper about Cates’s trial. Hornbeck criticizes the residents of Hillsboro for their fundamentalist belief toward religion. He does not listen to other people’s perspective and ridicules people who do not have the same opinion as he does. Hornbeck stands firm in his viewpoints throughout the entire play of Inherit the Wind.
I am going to talk about what disturbs me about Anne Franks story and the holocaust and what good came from Annes story join me if you want to on my journey. What is disturbing is that the Franks had to go into hiding and just a couple days before jews were disappearing and that the Franks protectors Miep and Mr.Kraler could face the same punishment for hiding them as if they were also jews. The Franks are jews and their protectors are not and they are still hiding the Franks even though they could get caught trying to help the Franks and get killed and then the Franks would not know where they are and get killed themselves. It's scary just thinking that you are hiding from the law and you'll get killed if found and your not in the comforts of
All in all, the Nuremberg Laws affect the overall mood of all the annex dwellers since they are forced into isolation and forced to wear Stars of
Many Jews outside of the Nazi border were skeptical about the Holocaust. The news of the Holocaust and what was happening would never be big news, they would put it towards the back of the newspaper, since they couldn’t believe it. Nobody, Jews, gypsies, would believe the news of the Holocaust. Many reacted like how the Jews reacted to in “Night”, with disbelief and skepticism until it was too late and the Nazis reached them. Most know the story of Anne Frank, and her story is just one of many.
This story is abut a girl that was writing her daily days while she was in the holocaust She was venting her fears and frustrations, and contemplating her everyday life. She was given the diary as a present from her parents in 1942, and named it Kitty. Through her diary writing, Anne Frank was in many ways her own counsellor in a time of great suffering and tribulation. She realized that writing down her thoughts and feelings could help her cope with the anxiety of the war and Nazi persecution.
On July 6, 1942 the Frank family was forced to go into hiding to avoid being sent to a concentration camp. (FS3) At the Annex where they were hiding, Anne and her family were facing new struggles everyday, such as arguments and dislike. (Thesis) In The Diary of Anne Frank, author Anne Frank reveals to the reader that (I) all people are fallible, (II) maturity is more than a physical change, and (III) all humans
Anne Frank was a very energetic young girl who tended to annoy the people around her with her thoughts, and never thinks about the things she says before she speaks out. During this time, Adolf Hitler has come into power, taking jewish people and their families away from their homes, killing, starving or working them to death, that has also come to be known as the Holocaust. Due to this and Anne’s family being jewish, they take action and go into hiding in an annex above an office with one other family named the Van Daans. The main events that happen, affect
To illustrate, the Dutch government, under the influence of “(the Nazis,) forced (Jews) out of business. (They) had to wear yellow stars(,) turn in their bike(s, and) couldn’t go to… Dutch school(s) anymore. (They) couldn’t go to the movies or ride in a streetcar and a million other things.” Nazi policies had inflicted a social segregation against Jews because they were not seen as equals in society. This was a complete injustice against them but at the time, society was so oblivious to the suffering they endured.
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said in his “Letter From a Birmingham Jail”, “Time itself is neutral; it can either be used destructively or constructively... Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability. It comes through the tireless efforts of man... We must use time creatively in the knowledge that time is always ripe to do right.” King is absolutely right, here; in order to make any progress or improvement, one needs to use time correctly in order to get a positive response.
In my opinion “Anne Frank’s: Diary of a young girl” so a good example to learn about the holocaust because the diary belonged to a Jewish girl that wrote on her diary while she and her family were hiding away from the nazis. In her diary she wrote about how things were changing over time for the Jews she explains what Jewish people couldn't do certain things anymore. Her diary talks about how they went into hiding and what happened when they were in the annex she talks about how hard it was to keep quiet inside the annex. Based on my experience I think Mr.Godinez should let the 8th graders read the Diary of Anne frank so they could better understand more about the holocaust.
Both families was Jew’s while the Holocaust was happening, they were in hiding from the Nazis. The Diary of Anne Frank changed my thoughts about me, but how everybody else might feel for there differentes. An amazing example from Anne Frank Diary is where Peter hated to wear the Star of David, because he was spit on for having a different belief. In my own opinion that the cause of people
Imagine how it feels to be stuck in a tiny, miniscule room for almost two years, not able to make a sound or movement and if heard by someone, death or concentration camp is the destination? The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is about a small family which consists of Anne, Margot, Mr. Frank, and Mrs. Frank who were in a shock of fear, and went into hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Over the course of the story other characters join the family into hiding such as Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, and their son Peter. During the time of hiding, Anne kept a diary to write down all her thoughts, fears, and feelings and was later known to be the most important piece of literature from the times of the Holocaust. The story takes you through their everyday lives of hiding in the annex which also includes arguing and times of happiness.
