In the book “ Johnny Tremain” written by Esther Forbes, the theme pride really stands out in the beginning of the book. In this book, it repeatedly shows pride as a bad thing. Pride is one of the few things in the world that isn’t just good or evil. Pride is only evil if you let it become more important than everything else. This is a quote by C.Lewis “ pride is a spiritual cancer: it eats up the very possibility of love, contentment, or even common sense,’”
Balance and Power: The Lakota Expansion The outstanding power of the Lakotas against other tribes and the settlers is said to be caused by the numbers and superior organization skills of the Lakota. But that is only half of the reason for the Lakotas’ power. The Lakotas succeeded partly because other tribes failed.
The main things that Native American and people today accept that it is a good thing to have could be the balance in the nature . According to the World on the turtle’s back story ,the twin brothers created balance to this world like Yin and Yang which you might often see in many Asian cultures . Yin and Yang represent the Balance in thing ,in black there’s still white and in white there’s still black . Left- handed twin who ‘s considered that he has a crooked mind ended up telling the truth . On the other hand ,the right-handed twin who’s considered that he has a straight mind and always tell the truth ended up lying to his brother .
Courage is said to be one of the most important characteristics a person can possess. We all admire the ones that put their jobs and lives on the line. They are not afraid to go against what the human society believes in, and some put their lives on the line to protect their loved ones’ back home. Robert F Kennedy stated in Profiles of Courage, that “Courage is the virtue that President Kennedy most admired. He sought out those people who had demonstrated in some way, whether it was on the battlefield or a baseball diamond, in a speech or fighting for a cause, that they had courage, that they would stand up, that they could be counted on (Kennedy ix).
The Lakota Indians The Lakota is a tribe located in the northern plains of America. They are related to the Sioux by culture, Language, and history. The Dakota are also a related tribe to the Lakota. They are known as Teton or also western Sioux. In the 1640’s the Lakota stayed closer to the Sioux.
The Fighting Sioux Name Change The University of North Dakota, found themselves in a battle against the Standing Rock and Spirit Tribes a few years back. The Standing Rock and Spirit Tribes found the term “Fighting Sioux” and the Indian head logo disrespectful and, in fact; racist toward their heritage. After Brittany Bergstrom, the author of The Fighting Sioux: The End of a Legacy? spoke with some of the students from University of North Dakota she starts to notice that changing the name is just as offensive to them as the name itself is to the Standing Rock and Spirit Tribes. “When the ‘Fighting Sioux’ lawsuit came about, I had really never thought one way or the other about the name… I became very defensive over the name.

Pride is where a person has a very high and mighty opinion of their own selves. This may lead to turmoil in lives of their self or others.
Lakota Language Introduction Lakota is a Siouan language which is spoken by its people (Lakota people) who belong to the Sioux tribes. It is one of the dialects of the Sioux language apart from Dakota and Nakota (Powers, 2009). Sioux is spoken by more than 30,000 people in the US and Canada and is therefore positioned at number five amongst the most spoken native languages in the United States. Lakota is one of the three major regional varieties comprising of Western Dakota and Eastern Dakota. Western Dakota also known as Yankton-Yanktonai is at the middle of Eastern Dakota and Lakota.
Respect is a big part of our lives still. Although the presence of many of the virtuous Native American values is very meager today, this one still exists as a miniscule glimmer across our lives. One must have respect for others to first have respect for themselves. You make a choice of how people will see you: as a incorrigible person, or as a respectful person. People will usually treat you accordingly.
Ceremony and rituals have played a vital and essential role in Native American culture for a long time. Often referred to as “religion,” most Native Americans did not think their spirituality, ceremonies, and rituals as “religion,” the same way that Christians do. Instead, their beliefs and practices form an integral and seamless part of their being. Like other aboriginal people around the world, their beliefs were heavily influenced by their ways of getting food, – from hunting to agriculture. They also did ceremonies and rituals that gave power to conquer the difficulties of life, as wells as events and milestones, such as puberty, marriage, and death.
The Sioux tribe was one of the most known powerful tribes living in which they originally came from Missouri in the 1800’s. Not to mention,many things happened when they came to Nebraska. During their early years, transportations are a way for them to follow the path of the buffalos,as a matter of fact, they had horses and built boats to keep them going. For example, they were also known to be farmers as well as hunters. The tribe made an influence on the Westward expansion and made war between the Americans,so many people wonder how the Americans influenced the tribe and where are they now.
