The dystopian society in human behaviour is very intricate where leadership is never challenged or changed. The society is expected to implement whatever comes from above without questioning its validity and significance. The film, ‘The Hunger Games’ shows beyond doubt, scrutiny of the totalitarian governments and the concept of social control. This is a traditional society where the leader has all the power in his hands, and the people in the society have very little to say on their own future. ‘The Hunger Games’, is well shown a trilogy that takes place in Panem, a country with 12 districts that are controlled by the Capital. School of thoughts, cultural materialism has often been shown in The Hunger Games. Cultural materialism defines the research strategy that prioritizes material, influences, develops, idolise, and behavioral manifestations. The people in the capital are well to do and seem to have plenty while in the other hand people in the districts are under the yoke of starvation. When Katniss first ride the train, it was seen then that Katniss was witnessing for the first time of loads of food everywhere inside the train. She was used to little amounts of food or even starvation, it was a huge contrast seeing what her districts gets and what the capital has. The biggest cultural materialism in The Hunger Games is the code of their attire. Females and males in the capital were bright, flamboyant colourful clothing in the contrast with the people in the districts, who are in dull and unattractive worn-out clothes. Another fact the capital were not just attractive in clothing but also in facial with makeup on, where as in the districts, no makeup is known. The cultural materialism difference between the rural and urban areas is a vivid cultural differences closely associated with the economic class each one belongs to.
