The Hunger Games--By Suzanne Collins The Games Begin Review by: Sophie Gies Dec. 1, 2017 If there is one thing you don't want to happen in the future it's this. As the world fell into chaos, the world as we knew it disappeared. The world thrown into chaos, people losing family and friends on both sides, leaving both contraries, defenseless. But, North America has formed a new government, more or less like a monarchy. The monarch or President Snow, rules the shining Panem. I think this book was great thriller and had a great set of characters and emotion. This book is a wonderful pick to read, intense and passionate. With the Capital ruling over twelve districts around it, the Capital is thriving and keeping control over all twelve districts. Her father died in a mine accident and her mother has still not fully recovered from the shock of the death. Everyday, Katniss hunts illegally for food and other needs for her mother and sister Prim. Katniss Everdeen sees it as her own personal funeral to take her twelve year old sisters place in the Games. Soon she will have to choose between life and love and survival and humanity. But then Peeta Mellark gets chooses as the boy tribute of district twelve. “Why him?” Peeta Mellark. Peeta lived at a bakery and according to Katniss always had enough. But in the Games, she must act like Peeta and she are in love for their own survival. They are portrayed as the “star crossed lovers from District 12”. But with so many other tributes, “the odds don't seem to be” in Katniss’s favor.in But, Katniss eventually must choose him or life itself. But this brings conflict with the Capital. The Games are not going the way they plan. But through it all, Katniss and Peeta's love story go through, but what will happen to them with this dang ours choice of
