The Hunger Games is a book about 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen's fight to survive in Panem's infamous Hunger Games, a show broadcasted displaying children fighting to the death. This book takes place in Panem, a post-United States nation, but the majority of the book takes place in the Capitol's arena for the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games starts with Katniss Everdeen preparing for the announcement of this year's tributes to the Hunger Games, better known as the Reaping. In the Hunger Games, only children are allowed to participate, and as a child gets older, their name gets put in another time. While this may seem as a measure of cleanliness, I see it as the way the Capitol presents their tributes, perfect, with no flaws. On page 61, Katniss states she is in the "Remake Center," where all body hair is removed and all dirt is removed from your body before you enter the Capitol. The second piece of evidence I present is when Haymitch says, "In public, I want you by each other's side every minute, (page 92)." Haymitch does this to confirm the notion that Peeta likes Katniss like he says in his interview. Haymitch also does this to gain the two tributes sponsors who can give gifts in the arena. The final piece of evidence I believe supports my argument is when Katniss repeatedly kisses Peeta to receive gifts from sponsors in the arena, securing the thought of Peeta and Katniss together, to the audience anyway. Every time she does this, it's when she or Peeta are in need of something, like the soup or sleeping medicine. This happens on multiple occasions, getting one miraculous gift each time, on pages 186, 235, 272, and 296. On every occasion, Katniss receives one item, either sleep serum, burn medicine, District 11 bread, and a Capitol meal. In conclusion, the theme The Hunger Games displays the best is "an image is
