In the book, The Hunger Games, one of the main events is when Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. After reading this event, I was very surprised. I noticed that Katniss surprised herself by saying she would volunteer, but then quickly recovered once she remembered that the reaping would be shown on television. “…this is upsetting me and I don’t want to cry. When they televise the replay of the reapings tonight, everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as an easy target.
The one thing they can't stand is being laughed at and they’re the joke of panem.” Katniss was warned after taking the role as the mockingjay because she was once again challenging the system. The rebels were on the edge of giving up almost losing motives to keep fighting until Katniss became the face of the rebels and gave them hope once again to take down the capitol. This, outraged the capitol and they would do anything to stop her. Katniss was considered a strong person or at least she was in front of cameras.
Katniss Everdeen may be one of the most unlucky person in all of history. In the book The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is a book about a young girl and a boy who get called into the arena for a second time for the 75th Hunger Games (Quarter Quell). In the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss volunteered as tribute for her sister Prim. In the nest book President Snow, being the evil man he is, decided to have all of the previous winners of the Hunger Games back for the third Quarter Quell. In this Games all odds seem they are against Katniss, knowing that the main thing she has to do is keep Peeta alive.
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have a mutualism symbolic relationship during the Hunger Games. Their association was the key cause of both their survival in the Games. Katniss pretends that she is in love with Peeta in order to please the sponsors to get gifts for both of them. At the end, this relationship results in their victory of the Hunger Games. Their interaction increases their chances of survival because it causes viewers to sympathize them as they are perceived to be“star-crossed lovers from District Twelve” (Collins 135).
The infamous Hunger Games story created by Suzanne Collins starts off by setting the scene in the post-war nation of Panem, where it consists of the gleaming Capitol, surrounded by the twelve impoverished districts. As punishment for putting the nation through peril, the Capitol orders one boy and one girl aged from 12-18 from each district to be sent into the Hunger Games to fight until only one survivor remains. This story follows a young Katniss Everdeen as she volunteers for tribute to fight in the Games in order to save her sister. After meeting her fellow tribute, Peeta Mellark, in which she has a small, meaningful history with, they travel to the Capitol and train with Haymitch. In the arena, she forms many alliances with other tributes until she is eventually forced to fight Peeta.
If you don’t watch then you will be punished. Katniss must deal with a romance between her and Peeta during the Hunger Game. Katniss has been providing for her family since her father’s death in a mining accident. She has been doing it illegally by hunting beyond the boundaries of District 12. As she was doing this she learns how to use a bow and arrow.
Essential to overcoming adversity is the ability to cause change in yourself and others. In the book, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, has to learn to be strong and brave in a crisis. This helps her to survive the Hunger Games, because it gives her more faith especially when the price of losing her family is on the line. Ultimately, Collins shows that Bravery and strength leads to a successful person and can help one survive in something life changing.
Does being a fearless person mean you’ve never been scared in your life? Every person should have the feeling of being independent. In Suzanne Collins dystopian fiction book, The Hunger Games, the main character named Katniss Everdeen, shows many examples of how she went from being timid to being brave. Katniss Everdeen was struggling with her family and didn’t know what to do after her father passed away. Her mother fell into deep depression and Katniss was scared.
“One.” Maybe I’m wrong. “Two.” Maybe they don’t care if we both die. “Three!”
Most stories revolve around the main character’s growth. The protagonist experiences hardship or conflict, realizes something about the himself or about the world, and changes, often for the better. In Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games, Katniss is trusted into a hostile environment, and is forced to confront everything she thought she knew. She comes to realize that her preconceived impressions of others are not always accurate. When Katniss recognizes the positive attributes in Peeta, Haymitch, and the Avox, she has genuinely evolved into a thoughtful adult.
Katniss’s strategy throughout most of the games was not to give up. She fought hard for herself and tried not to kill anyone she didn’t have too. At first she was independent. She was tough and did not want others to see her true feelings. She makes this clear when talking about hiding her face from the cameras.
Katniss is stuck about her feeling and what she really wants. She has so many responsibilities after The Hunger Games and has lots of people watching her and the decisions she is making. This changed katniss character as she was now thinking about these relationships and not more important things, like keeping her family safe. People can relate to Katniss if they are also in the same situation. Relationships can change a person's priorities and options on everything going on around them.
Twelve districts, twenty-four tributes, determined if you die alone, or survive in glory and remembering that suffering time, what would you choose? The Capital does not care about the districts, the Capitol wants us to die, and the Capitol should not own the people. Katniss Everdeen hates the Capitol for making District twelve suffering to survive. Peeta Mellark would do anything to show the Capitol that they don’t own people. The Capitol watches the games for entertainment and they love watching innocent children die.
Life outside the games gets a little confusing, Katniss isn’t sure of her feeling for Peeta, and the Capitol isn’t happy with them threatening to leave them without a victor. They feel as though she is trying to rebel. In the novel the Hunger games there are examples of valuing and not valuing human life, an example of valuing human life is when Katniss volunteers as tribute to save her sister Prim. A few examples of people devaluing life are when the Career tributes teaming up to try to get other people out of the game and Clove treats Katniss not as a person but as a piece in the game to use as a good
