In the book, The Hunger Games, one of the main events is when Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. After reading this event, I was very surprised. I noticed that Katniss surprised herself by saying she would volunteer, but then quickly recovered once she remembered that the reaping would be shown on television. “…this is upsetting me and I don’t want to cry. When they televise the replay of the reapings tonight, everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as an easy target.

After both Katniss and Peeta win the Hunger Games, they return home and create a rebel party against the Capitol. Katniss and Peeta are drafted again into the 75th Hunger Games, and Katniss destroys the Hunger Games. In doing this, Peeta is captured by the Capitol and kept as a prisoner of war. In order to save Peeta and the Districts, Katniss unites the people against the Capitol. They form an army that passes through the security of the Capitol and saved Peeta.
The major theme in The Hunger game series is the inequity between rich and poor In the books, the author points out that people from the poor district have never known what is orange juice, coffee or chocolate, things people normally know in our world; but for people in district 12, these are luxuries that they cannot afford in their lives (Collins, 2008, p.60). The author used this as an example to mention how poor people live under the Capitol’s control and also provide a reasonable motivation for the following revolution. Going from surviving to thriving In the fictional story The Game by Monica Hughes and the fictional movie The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins both main characters go on epic journeys using innovation, tenacity, and creativity to go from surviving to thriving. Tenacity is a form of determination. Tenacity was a much needed skill in both The Game and The Hunger Games in order for the characters to survive. On page 22 in the game it says “That lock on the door is a Mickey Mouser.”
In the Sequel to the Hunger Games, Catching Fire, written by Suzanne Collins, about 6 months after returning home from their unexpected victory of the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark discover they must partake in a Victor's Tour and visit each district. Through the tour Katniss and Peeta sense rebellion stirring amongst the districts. This makes President Snow feel the need to prove that he is still very much in control and spreads the word about a cruel new change that will occur in the upcoming 75th annual Hunger Games. Snow then turns Katniss and Peeta's world upside by throwing them back into the arena of the games and makes it clear that there will only be one winner in this go round. So after a colossal meltdown
Catching Fire, book two of the Hunger Games Trilogy, is a novel about two victors, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. The author's message is about joining together to overcome the things that control us. The two victors were chosen for the previous annual hunger games, because of tribute Katniss' stunt with the poisonous berries. An act, that was supposedly an act of love, was seen as defiance towards the Capitol. This resulted in rebellion and attempted uprisings.
The author was hinting at their problem throughout the story. The problem is Katniss Everdeen has to survive throughout the hunger games with her allies for her second year in a row and try to survive in a dome against 24 tributes. The theme the author developed in the story was no matter what stick up for ur friends and have their back and they will do the same for you. The author also used show don't tell by helping explain what they are about to do and help the readers understand. For example in the novel the author put more detail into their plan about how they are going to escape the dome.

The Hunger Games is a thing in the Capitol were 2 people from each District a boy and girl get picked to fight to the death. In District 12 Prim gets picked for the girl but Katniss volunteers as tribute for her little sister. The who got picked was Peeta Mellark. For my character I picked Katniss and for my theme I picked survival.

The Hunger Games is about two teens from Panem (district twelve) who go to the capitol to fight in the seventy-fourth Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen is a sixteen year old girl from district 12 who volunteers for her younger sister Prim rose, at the reaping. Peeta Mallark is the male tribute. They go to the capitol and train and have interviews in which Peeta wins over the crowd by saying that he loves Katniss.
People come from 12 districts all around and train for a week to become a fierce gladiator and fight in the arena. When the time comes to select two individuals from Katniss’s district, a young man named Peeta and Katniss’s sister are chosen. Katniss does not want her sister to go into the dangerous battle, so she volunteers as tribute.
