“Hero’s are made by the path they choose, not the power they are graced with.” - Brodi Ashton. Katniss Everdeen is the protagonist of this novel, who has to obey society’s unfair rules. Katniss chooses volunteers for her sister Primrose at the district 12 reaping to participate in a yearly event called The Hunger Games. She is forced to fight against the other tributes chosen from the other districts.
One conflict in this book was character versus nature as all the tributes had to face environmental issues such as temperatures, hunger, thirst, and others. For example, on page 299 it states, “Starving, weak from injuries, trying not to reopen wounds. We’re sitting huddled together wrapped in the sleeping bag, yes, but mostly to keep warm. The most exciting thing either of us does is nap.” This shows how the characters have to conquer their problems and be able to face environmental issues so they can survive and win the Hunger Games.
When everyone was in the center and the countdown became 0. Everyone was being killed so Katniss ran in the forest and Peeta teamed up with district two. Katniss went to sleep in a tree and she woke up to Peeta and district two waiting

The Hunger Games: Chapter Notes Chapter One: It was the morning of the reaping, Katniss was reflecting on the events of her life. This introduces the characters main family, prim, and her mother. In order to clear her mind, Katniss went hunting in the woods near the edge of District 12. While there, Katniss 's friend Gale showed up to I an escape plan before the reaping can began. Katniss declines the offer and heads to the square for the reaping.
The announcement said that there may be two winners of the Hunger Games if they are from the same district. This urged Katniss to find Peeta, as she's walking she sees a blood trail. As she follows the blood trail she hears a weak voice saying “Don’t step on me”. It was Peeta, Katniss nursed him back to health. She washed his wounds and wrapped his leg up.
“The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is a suspenseful and frightening story about a 16 year old girl, Katniss everdeen who is born into a small village called District 12. The capitol, which controls the districts hosts an annual Hunger Games each and every year. Two tributes, a boy and a girl from each district are chosen between the ages of 12-18 to compete against 22 other tributes, but only one can win. Katniss is not chosen, but her younger sister Prim is chosen at only 12 years old. Katniss volunteers in Prim 's place and is now in the hunger games.
Chapter 27: Katniss waits as other members of the team are introduced onstage, and then it’s her turn, and she sees that Peeta is already there, standing a few feet from her. She runs to him, giving him a hug, and he kisses her until Haymitch makes them stop. They sit together on a loveseat, and Katniss cuddles up next to Peeta as they watch the highlight reel of the Hunger Games. It documents all the tributes’ deaths, as well as the scenes between Peeta and Katniss that seem to tell a love story. Katniss is grateful for the video’s edits, which have been designed to make her appear madly in love.
With the capital themselves realising the pair's value as entertainment, Katniss continuing her stoic cold demeanour only brings more attention to her setting her apart from others as she isn't anything like the usual compliant tribute. Though Katniss and Peeta's stand out debut catches the attention of the audience, it doesn't stop them from being underestimated by the other tributes as district 12 is still the poorer coal district who only have 2 victors of all Hunger Games history. As they aren’t predicted to do well or go very far through the games this comes to being an advantage to them as they aren’t a primary target for the stronger tributes with Peeta at some point temporarily teaming up with them directly affecting the outcome of who wins. Eventually as the games progresses, Katniss allies with 12 year old Rue from district 11 seeing similarities between Rue and her own sister Prim she becomes protective of her so when Rue dies this only fuels Katniss’ hatred for the capitol more. She sings to Rue as she dies taking advantage of the fact that the capitol will have to televise Rue's death.
At this point in the story, they have finally reached the surreal moment of winning the Hunger Games. In chapter twenty, page three hundred and forty five, the text states," '... Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark!' I give you---the tributes of District 12!' " Katniss's perseverance has paid off.
Katniss goes through each and every part, becoming a hero without even knowing it. The first part of the Hero’s Journey is Departure, which is when the hero starts their journey. Katniss gets her Call to Adventure at the Selection Ceremony, for the annual Hunger Games. Her sister Prim gets chosen,
Peeta Mellark, one of the main characters in the book The Hunger Games, once said, “ My nightmares are usually about losing you. But I am okay once I realise your here.” The novelis about two teens from each district in the country Panem being selected to be in the Hunger Games, a reality TV show that requires them to fight to the death. Over the course of the novel, the two main characters, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, develop romantic feelings for each other.
On the other hand, there is Capitol who has political control in the nation of panem. The story starts when each district must offer a male and female between the ages of 12-18 at a public reaping as a penance for their uprising. The tributes which are male and female shall be delivered to the Capitol and then transferred to a public arena where they will fight with other district until a lone victor remains. This tradition called the hunger games. The story centers was coming from poor district 12 where Katniss and Peeta as their tributes.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a story about Katniss Everdeen who lives in district 12 with her mom and her sister Prim. Her sister gets picked for the Hunger Games which is where each of the 12 districts have to give a boy and a girl from the ages of 12-18 do fight till the death until there is one person standing. This is because there was an outbreak against the capitals thats why there is the Hunger Games. Katniss volunteers do her sister and now has to try and win the games. One theme in this story that is shown is that family love can go along way, this is shown because she is very overprotective of Prim.
