The Hunger Games draft kids against their will to kill each other. Power is a big part of The Hunger Games the capitol people have a lot. In the novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins the theme of power progresses throughout the story for the main character Katniss Everdeen who starts powerless but then hides her intentions from the capitol people and takes control of the winners of The Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen like most people in the Seam is powerless. Katniss shows this powerless state when the reaping is about to happen. In the novel, it says “I protect Prim in every way I can, but I’m powerless against the reaping”(Collins fifteen). This quote shows how katniss starts helpless and powerless against the capitols reaping ceremony this also shows how much power the capitol holds making district twelve fear them and their ceremony.
