Hunger Games Powerful Scenes The Hunger Games was originally written by the author Suzanne Collins in 2008 and it was later adapted into a movie only 4 years later. The movie adaptation was directed by Gary Ross and the film would go on to win 12 awards which is a substantial amount for any movie. This was all accomplished because of the popularity that The Hunger Games was able to achieve in just a few months before it was decided that a movie must be made. That leads us the to the question on how The Hunger Games was able to become so popular so fast because a feat like that does not just go unnoticed in the time that we live in. This movie shows many examples of patterns of frequency, contrast, and also anomalies. One moment of intensity is when one of the girl’s that offers to help her gets murdered, which causes Katniss to lose a good friend and ally. This sparks an emotional breakdown for Katniss as she yells and cries at the death of this little girl that she had grown to know. Once she buries her, the girls family and friends back at her district spark a rebellion against the officers and government that run the place because of how they watched one of their own get murdered and at the kindness and trust that Katniss placed into this one girl. It makes you think that you yourself had just lost a very good friend. Throughout the movie you can see that as time goes on Katniss begins to treat Rue as if she was her little sister. Katniss had such a strong connection with her sister that she even volunteered to take her place so that she would not have to risk her being in this dangerous competition. So when Rue dies it is as though Katniss has lost her sister as well and realizes just what she will have to go through if she is to win the game in order to see her family
