Were you ever curious of the eerie laughs and cries of the Hyenas in the hit film The Lion King? The widely known spotted hyena, also known as the laughing hyena because of the unusual sound it makes. The majority of us will look down on the cleverness and the complications they live by. Although the hyenas live in Africa and are often seen roaming in grassland savannas, woodlands, and mountains while sleeping in dens. Hyenas are found in Africa and the striped hyenas are found in East Africa. In Africa, hyenas are the largest predators weighing 180 pounds and sitting up to 30 inches at the shoulder. Surely, hyenas have been classified as wicked and sneaky hunters. These scavengers will arrange into groups of hunters and take down prey as giant as a zebra. Hyenas eat lizards, birds, snakes, and antelopes. Nearly all of hyenas kill most of the animals they hunt and eat. Some eat bones, teeth, and hooves and dine on the leftovers of other predators. “Hyenas have long been considered scurrilous and sneaky scavengers.” (Alongi 1). As well as any other exotic animal in Africa, hyenas will hunt and kill any animal that hasn’t already been eaten upon. Being skillful gives them the advantage to take down prey as large as zebra and much more. “These are complicated, intelligent, and high social animals with a really awful reputation (Alongi 1).
