Television has broadened to a large spectrum throughout its timespan. From adapting horror movies into shows, adapting musicals into television, or even appearing on the internet, Television has been growing. Its quite amazing how many different spectrums and mediums that it tries to do. Lately, web based shows have been turning into what is truly popular, and this is none more true than for Netflix. Netflix is the new medium for both shows and movies. Besides being able to catch up on shows that were on TV, you can now watch new shows. One of these new shows is called “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”. As inventive as the show is, it crosses many different identities, especially in one character named Titus Andromedon. We see different layers of Titus, from being a queer, African American, from Alabama, who is also an actor. The way he is portrayed is quite stereotypical, but we learn so many things about him in the show, even though he is in the supporting cast. Here we are able to learn about how his race, sexuality, gender and other identities overlap in the show. Titus is a proud character where we don’t necessarily focus on his sexuality except for three out of the twelve episodes. Although he may seem typically “feminine” no one treats him differently. There are points in the show where his femininity is used as a comedic point. For instance, when Kimmy offers to buy him drinks if he goes out to celebrate with her, he sings the song “Im coming out” by Diana Ross, which is typically used in gay clubs (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). These are used as points of humor where the audience is suppose to be caught off by a male portraying feminine traits. Although this supports the system of oppression for queer people, in the sense that gay men are feminine, it almost empowers
