“The Killing Fields” was movie that symbolize the life in Cambodia during the 70’s, also not to mention the way of being a refugee during that era of time. For what I saw it was a very scary and dangerous time to be alive in Cambodia. The citizens were held hostage, put into camps, became servants, beaten, and even killed. The Khmer Rouge was in control of the region and played a huge factor of taking initiative and destroying all people who disobeyed their way of living. They raised hell in not only Cambodia but in the South Asian territorial region. During this era of time, the Khmer Rouge at a civil war with Cambodia ended up resulting in the Vietnam War. In the most simplest terms, Khmer worked Cambodia to the grounds by running the Cambodian citizens to death. They made a huge negative impact on Cambodia by destroying their economy and killing of their social groups. It left Cambodia with being one of the most destroyed and broke nations in the world in that time. During the election the country was parted into separate parties, kind of how the U.S.A. has the Republican and Democratic parties, Cambodia had the Funcinpec party that was ran by Prince Ranariddh. Another party is the CPP ran by Hun Sen. Now we all know how different political parties can disagree with one another, but these two parties took it to a whole other level. CPP and Funcinpec really gained a negative tension between one another, it actually turned into a bloodbath.
