“Censorship is the thing that stops you doing what you want to do, and what writers want to talk about is what they do, not what stops them doing it.” Censorship is something that affects certain books all the time. Has your student ever brought home a censored book from class? Books get banned all the time for specific reasons by the state that some may agree with and some may not. Are you one that thinks books should be banned and not allowed to be read in schools. Of Mice and Men is a specific book that is censored because of its language and race.
With Censorship such as violence, profanity, or sexual remarks, it becomes the center point in the book that people notice while reading. Censorship is like the berlin wall of literature. George is an intelligent man while Lennie is a bulky strong man but mentally disabled, while both have a dream of owning their own piece of land one day and lennie wants to have rabbits on the farm because he loves touching soft animals. They both land a job on a farm that already has many guys on it and one girl which is the owner's wife. Later in the novel Lennie gets a baby pup and is petting it in the barn when he accidentally squeezes it to hard and kills it. Curley's wife then walked in a few minutes later and offers up her hair as a petting object but he holds onto her when she tries to leave and ends up breaking her neck and killing her. Lennie then scared goes to the hiding spot George told him about and George ends up meeting him there and has him look off in the distance and shoots him in the back of the head, George then lies about what actually happened so he can keep his job on the farm and have the best for
