Ryan Humpal: A logical candidate for the Jefferson Award Youth need more strong, and more influential leaders because they help with sports, life skills, and becoming better people in general. The Jefferson Award is an award given to people who help in the community and impact people’s lives. An individual worth noticing is Ryan Humpal, Ryan Humpal is an Amery High School science teacher and head football coach and has done this for about 14 years. Humpal doesn’t just go and coach, he puts together things for players to do by themselves to get better. The Jefferson Award should be given to Ryan Humpal because he loves to compete and has the drive to work hard at whatever he does, whether coaching or teaching.
Good morning, or whenever you’re are reading this. I had recently read a book for a class it was called 101 Tips for Youth Sports Officials by Bob Still and from the Referee Magazine and the National Association of Sports Officials. The book was about like the title said it was about tips what you should do before, during, and after the games or how to deal with a certain event or situation. At times they would share stories with you how a ref handle a situation and then they talked about personal stories of how they messed up or they did something good. They talked about things in the past that were helpful to them and used to better their refereeing.
The coach that comes to my mind is Phil Jackson, who is one of the greatest coaches in the NBA. He led the Chicago Bulls to win six championships between 1991 and 1998 with two three-peats. Phil Jackson is a phenomenal coach. He always knows what he’s going up against because he studies his opponents. He educates himself on how the team play, who are their key players and what take the opponents out of their comfort zone.
Last year, over 5,000 athletes had somebody else do their homework, and coaches encouraged it. Colleges generally spend 79 million dollars each year on sports, and even after The Syracuse Scandal and other academic frauds, the funding only continues to grow. Since the colleges pour large funds into the teams, the athletes often are able to cut corners in education. College sports are definitely a terrible investment for universities as they discourage education, drain university funds, and gives athletes unfair advantages over everyone else.
Coaches have many responsibilities on and off the field, however could you imagine what it would be like to be responsible for nine separate sport teams in addition to managing a budget and all the while preparing for and teaching classes? This is a typical daily duty of an athletic director. High School athletic directors are generally still classroom teachers who are responsible for monitoring the academic and graduation rates of student athletes, parents, and faculty to resolve problems . Athletic directors must be highly skilled at public relations.
In the athletic world, there are many different types of coaches. There are the coaches who think they know everything, the coaches who know what they are doing but do not care, and the coaches that actually care and want to succeed. First, the coaches that think they know what they are doing. These types of coaches act like they know the game, but they really do not.
James appeared to need coaching at work. He gives the impression to be uninterested and unengaged. Managers had been over heard discussing his lack of organization and discipline at work. James was a very productive and effective employee under a different manger so he could be receptive to coaching. It is very important that the right coaching style be chosen for James.
Sport managers are responsible for the moral decisions that govern an organizations behaviour. An individual must understand that certain decisions may be right or wrong when it comes to situations in life. Since the 21st century, sport has developed an increase in talent, many individuals choose to make unethical decisions to benefit themselves. It is also important to allow every individual an equal opportunity to be a part of a sports team unless reasons exist otherwise. When choosing a team, evaluation should be based on skill, personality, and prior behaviour.
Coaching is a useful way of developing people skills and abilities, and of coarse boosting performance. It can also help deal with
You decided to become a coach because you are driven to serve. You want to help people achieve their goals and dreams. You want to live a life of passion and purpose. You want the freedom of being paid to do what you love to do.
(2007) states that this is true with many great coaches today, who have admitted that they would not have been as successful if they did not have a good coach to help mentor and develop them. Coaching is not an easy term to define. American College of Sports Medicine maintains the following
Coaches tend to live beneath a false sense of security that their only responsibility is to further the athletic capabilities if their players both individually, and collectively. This thought that coaches have no obligation to defend their athletes’ mental, and physical safety is absurd. Coaches are not simply caretakers of players, but of people, and therefore hold a moral and legal duty to create a safe environment of play, in order to prevent, and protect their athletes from serious head trauma, or other sports related injuries. Many believe that it is solely medical professionals’ jobs to keep athletes safe, while the majority of sports-world believes that this responsibility is shared among multiple different influences in
In this day and age with professional athletes being at the top of the social spectrum, youth sports have gotten very popular. “More than 26 million children ages 6 to 17 played team sports in 2014(Rosenwald).” Youth sports are very popular because it brings the great feeling of being on a team. When you are on a team you feel like you can do anything together, and nothing is stopping you. There are also many flaws in youth sports.
To be a coach you need a certain set of skills. For example a coach needs to have good people skills. A coach has to talk to his team and other people from around the area who want to meet him and talk to him. Another Thing a Coach needs to be arrogant to an extent he needs to be very confident in his ability’s to lead his team to a winning season and he needs to be confident in players that they can execute what he has taught them to do so they can get a win every week. How Competitive Sports is Beneficial Children at a young age have a lot of energy, To solve that problem, they are sometimes put into a competitive sports team. Many will disagree and say that this is unacceptable , while others say that it is beneficial.
