There’s always a balance that can be reached towards emotional and sexual compatibility. Understanding the dynamism in your relationship and how these impacts on your sexual lives often leaves clues as to what needs to be tweaked or sorted in order to build, sustain and enjoy intimate compatibility. Such dynamism within relationships has already been talked about in the early chapters of this book though not within the context of marital sexual relations. The dynamism of any relationship is influenced by the personalities or behaviours of the individuals involved as well as the level of their mutuality. The sum of these is what leaves clues of ‘stressors’ inhibiting sexual compatibility among couples. These stressors may either be work related, medical, fatigue, poor hygiene, poor communication, resentfulness and arguments over finances, house chores, parenting etc. Managing these stressors is key to developing closer bond. There are no couple on earth who don’t have one ‘stressor’ or the other. As long as we are all humans, we are faced with many inhibiting life’s issues. The ability to contextualise these in areas that affects our relationships with our spouses does make all the difference for such dialogue and concessions? For example, feeling unhappy with a job could lead to constant mood swings, even so when this is the only means of sustenance for the home front? Hence, one may feel less obliged to express this depressing feelings to a spouse owing to his/her likely reaction? However, if not brought to the fore and discussed sincerely, this may continually dampen your mood but instigate misperceptions and resentfulness that can destroy marital intimacy and bliss?
