Communication can be view as a metaphorical ‘pipeline’ along which information is transferred from one person to another (Axley, 1994). It is the lifeblood of any system of human interaction as without it, no meaningful or coherent activity can take place(Thomason, 1988: 400).The need to communicate effectively is the heart of any business be it construction, Banking, medical sector and any form of business. The project team in the construction industry in Nigeria includes the professionals who are Project Managers (PM), Architect, Quantity Surveyor (QS), Land Surveyor (LS), Geotechnical Engineers (GE), Structural Engineers (Strct.E), Mechanical & Electrical Engineers (M&E), Civil Engineer or Builders, who can be contractor and also the client who is the main originator of the communication. These professionals transfer appropriate and relevant information to develop a buildable design that meets the client’s requirements. As project team in the building industry there has been a growing concern about the level of communication and its effect in achieving project success in the Nigeria construction project. As observed by Stephen Emmitt & Christopher Gorse (2003.1), No matter how through the briefing process, how clear the drawings and how good the site management, there were always a number of problems that arose during each and every project, regardless of size or in any location . Some of the difficult can be minor and easily resolved; some can be major and lead to dispute, with every new project fresh and slightly different problems developed. Organized construction contracting in Nigeria began in the 1940s with few foreign companies coming into operation (Gorse, 2002).The construction industry in Nigeria is a multibillion dollar industry with hardly any year befalling successful contractors who bid for construction projects, the last few years has witnessed increasing patronage and profits for most construction companies in Nigeria.
