When the USA women’s soccer team won the World Cup they only received about $2 million in prize money. Which is not a lot for a national women’s soccer team compared to the men’s. Some of the women on the national soccer team also play women’s professional soccer but still don’t make as much money combined. The USA Men’s National Soccer Team hasn’t won any gold medals since 1984 and haven’t won the World Cup since 1994 but yet they still somehow get payed more. During the World Cup in Brazil, the U.S men’s soccer team got knocked out of Round 16 and pocketed $9 million from it. Germany won the Brazil World Cup and received $35 million which is way more than what the women received for winning the World Cup. This shows how different the women’s national soccer team gets paid. Another thing is how much attention they have been getting. The last Women’s World Cup Final was the most watched soccer match in the U.S. This means that the women’s team is bringing in more money.
