d. Globalization is at the core of the statement, “One day, there will be no borders, no flags, and no countries, and the only passport will be the heart.” by Carlos Santana. It is part of the set in problématique of International Political Economy (IPE) where it basically remove the barriers that divide nation-states in terms of economic, social and cultural aspects. It usually covers issues such as politics, business, culture, technology, the environment, global migration, gender relations, and tourism to name a few (Veseth, n.d).
Globalization is interconnected, interdependent, and integrated. These three characteristics will explain how globalization proves Carlos Santana’s statement. The first point is focused on interconnectedness. With the advent of globalization, it has increased the interconnectedness of human beings with its rapid and cheap move of goods. This is made possible with the advancements in technology which have improved transportation and communication capabilities. One can easily communicate with other colleagues abroad and even book a flight just by sitting. As a consequence to this interconnectedness, occurrences in the international arena have serious impact in the domestic domain while local occurrences go beyond purely domestic agenda. Globalization made this happen where in no borders, flags, and countries is seen as a hindrance in the picture for it links people in different countries by common interests, values and other aspects.
