Schools all over America, consist of many different cultures and race. It will benefit a teacher tremendously, when he/she takes the time to find out information about his/her students’ cultures. To add to it, it will be easier for a teacher to understand why some students talk or behave a certain way. However, when educators are teaching students, it is highly important for teachers to focus on, the different cultures in their class. Students from a different culture find themselves alone. They are unsure if they fit in or show fear of making new friends. In the Article Hispanic Families and Their Culture: Implications for FCS Educators it states many public schools consist mainly of Hispanics. With the support from family members, Hispanics are trying to improve their life styles. The women are responsible to raise the children while their husbands work outside of the home. There are so many students that enter school without knowing the English language. It turns out; most of them only know their primary language. To improve students’ motivation level, teachers have to use more visual aids/pictures, explain the important contents in different ways and pair high performing students with low performing students (Cafferty, Engstrom, 2000). Teachers should display multicultural pictures around the room to make students feel welcome. They can be responsible for translating information in Spanish to Spanish speaking families. Parents want to raise their children to be highly educated and they have strong expectation for their children to be successful in life. It is obvious, that all students learn from each other, with this in mind, when teachers are grouping students into small groups the main goal is to mix up the group with different cultures. Due to this, students might find out they all enjoy riding their skateboards at the park or they spend most of their time on weekends playing football. To make sure all students are successful in class, English speaking students’ should answer the first question of the topic first, this way it will give ELL students an opportunity to get a better understanding what the topic is about and then, to make if fair for everyone in the class, teachers can gradually invite ELL students to answer the first question.
