Americans often remember the service of veterans, but they forget the insight that happened during their service. They forget to ask questions, and they forget to listen to our veterans. People start feeling bad for them.Instead of feeling bad for them we should honor them. Soldiers need to be treated like the brave men and women they are. Veterans truly are heroes, need to be heard, and we need to help them. First of all, veterans are heroes. Everybody knows that veterans risk their life every time they strap on their helmet, but how many people really know what that implies. This means they risk never seeing their best friend again,they risk never seeing their kids, wife, mom, dad, and any other any family member again. They do all this for the safety of America and the well being of all Americans. What better definition is there for heroes than that. Honoring a veteran does not have to be a complicated ordeal. Offering a ride shows respect and honor. Sharing a veterans’ stories can help get the word out about war. A simple thank you goes a long way. Picking up their tab shows you know of their many great sacrifices. Visiting a retirement home and visiting with veterans shows gratitude and consideration. All these are ways to show appreciation. It should be obvious to see all that veterans do for America. The American population needs to know the truth that veterans hold.
