Hope. Hope is one of the three theological virtues (from which human virtues derive from). It is what gives human their character, we act in accordance to our moral virtue. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, hope is defined as “the theological virtue by which we desire and expect from God, both eternal life and the grace we need to attain it.” According to Benedict XVI and Catherine of Siena, Christian hope enriches and deepens human friendship/community and it is why hope serves a purpose in our lives to the kingdom of heaven.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church book also further covers hope as, “the kingdom of heaven and eternal like as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s premises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit.” More than likely, one hopes for something they have not received yet. For instance those that have lived all their life with hate until their death will continue to live that way, because that is how their life ended. Under the same principle, those that hold just souls that “end in loving in charity and are bound by love” cannot continue to grow in virtue once the person dies. However, they can continue to hold their love for God and their neighbors just as they did when they were alive. This creates a sort of community amongst others in the same heaven that all similarly died loving God/ having hope in him and come from the same charity. “They finished their loves loving their neighbors, and they did not leave that love behind but brought it with them when they passed through that gate…” A more closer bond is made amongst those individuals with just souls in heaven, where they can continue to share their love and become
