There are humans and there are animals that roam this Earth. If we are not that different biologically, why aren’t animals as developed as us? Why aren’t we as simple-minded as our fellow animals? There are many different beliefs as to why we have created technologies, ideas, and a future for ourselves while animals are still at the starting line whether it be scientific or religious. After a few months of book reading and researching, I have found that unlike our animal counterparts, humans have the ability to have an identity however they are shaped whether it be by our surroundings or by the people we spend time with. Many animals don’t take their experiences and make a huge change in their lives. Huge changes would only be made from maybe a huge environmental impact or change that forced the animals to change. During the Space Race between America and the Soviet Union, America was in a constant state of anxiousness. In JFK’s Moon Speech, in which he talks about landing a man on the Moon, man’s greatest achievement today, he speaks his thoughts that we, as Americans, must take upon us the responsibility to use all outlets such as space as a place to expand peace not war or strife. Imagine humans aren’t made to learn from their mistakes. Humanity keeps messing up, keep allowing the world to crumble to pieces, keep allowing animals to die due to over hunting or fishing, keep allowing wars to break all over the world, keep allowing these “lost causes” such as global warming, ice caps melting, pollution, diseases and hate to keep ending lives. If this were the case, would anyone want to live in this world? Would any human or animal want to enter this world that has lost all cause for hope? These differences are what can show someone the differences between the identities of humanity and the minds of the animals we care to
