It cannot be denied that there are many factors responsible for economic growth but ICT has played somewhere a different role in economic growth. Economic growth is a process where an engine of growth is running and that engine requires some fuels and that is certainly the ICT. This paper is an attempt to explore the importance of ICT in the economic growth of Indian economy.

To start with ICT, we should know the meaning of it. ‘ICT is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance.’ The daily use of computer technology has reduced the time to complete any work or any project.
