“I’m a big football fan, but I have to tell you, if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football (President Barrack Obama)”. American Football is a full contact sport played by two teams of eleven players move the ball forward by running and passing . What makes it so dangerous is the amount of hits players receive during the match and during training. Letting their kids play football is a rising concern for many parents due to the amount of injuries and even deaths that happen on the field. Chris Borland, a professional player, retired from football aged just 24 due to concerns about his head injuries. Therefore, one may argue that parents shouldn’t let their kids play football for fear of injuries and concussions occurring on the field. Quite oppositely, kids should definitely be allowed to engage in playing football which will make sure kids stay in shape and do better in school. To begin with, playing football allows kids to stay fit as fiddle. Football is a highly demanding sport that involves lots of running, jumping and tackling which can help kids stay in shape. Shockingly, “In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.” That is a huge part of the population of children. Being overweight may lower the self-esteem and decrease self-confidence because one may not feel good about themselves. But, according to , kids are now being thought new and enhanced techniques of playing the sport. The chances of injuries and concussions are rapidly decreasing. Therefore, kids should be allowed to play the sport. Moreover, it has been proven through many studies that active kids do better in school. According to , students who exercise or do sports perform better on tests than kids who do
