I believe that anyone can be successful in anything they want if they put enough time and effort into it. There have been many times in my life where I have struggled and I have needed assistance. A quote that my parents always told me as a small child was “never give up”. I always remember this little saying every time I am in need. 2 major times I have felt desperate for help was when I first started playing hockey and my grades in 9th grade. Ever since I was a little kid, I was surrounded by sports. Growing up in a household where both my parents and all my siblings did some sort of activity I knew that I would be destined to also. I remember when me and my older brother Jacob would go over to my neighbors house (which felt like everyday) and would play some sort of game whether it be basketball, football or soccer. What happened was I didn 't complete very much of my homework and it started to drop my grades. This set off a domino effect which lead me to do poor on my exams and I needed help. I again realized the problem and after a heated lecture from my parents, I knew something needed to change. I looked my grades and understood what needed to happen. I started taking more notes in class, I started going to my teachers after class and fixing any questions I had from the homework. It was not an easy task nor very fun but I knew it had to be done. By the end of that quarter, I had raised all my classes by at least one letter grade. This taught me a very large lesson in my life that I need to put school work over friends, xbox, etc. The total payout for that was very rewarding, it wasn’t as stressful in class and my homework started to look easier and easier as time went on. For my parents, they were very proud of me and started rewarding me more. Ever since that dreadful semester I have learned a lot and how to keep it from happening in the
