According to O-Prof, the first step in the research process is walking. In this step, the researcher must locate and collect sources that are appropriate for their research topic. Two ways of doing this is by checking books out of the library or by running a few searches on Google. O-Prof gave advice on ways that Marvin could narrow his Google search. The site also mentioned problems with using Google, such as not having college level articles in the results or having
For example, “the Net is becoming a universal medium, the conduit for most of the information that flows through my eyes and ears and into my mind.” As a result Carr says, information just flows through people and straight into their mind; the internet is slowly taking over as the main source for information. The internet is a main source for information because it is quick and easy for people to access what they need in a matter of minutes or even
Today’s innovation is the internet, and the internet is proving to be just the same. Carr says that the attentiveness, thoughtfulness, and socialization of modern day society, or rather the lack of, is to the blame of the internet. Although Carr creates a strong argument, and does nothing but continually back up his thesis with good facts, but it is his actual thesis that I disagree with. Carr constantly states historical and scientific facts that show how the internet is following a path from the past.
“It can be concluded that, there are many great inventions, every one of them important for its time. The internet is the best invention, even with its flaws, is the most important invention of our modern time” As told by Italki The internet is the most important invention ever (contrasting ideas, linking expressions) There were other inventions that shaped our world today. But all those inventions were nothing compared to the internet. It provides many of the things that we need.
Technology takes away the stress of getting to someone’s house to give them the information. In the article, “Meet Your IBrain: How Technology Changing the Way We Think”, state that, “we develop a better ability to sift through large amounts of information rapidly and decide what’s important and what isn’t- our mental filters basically learn how to shift into overdrive” (146). They believe with the help of technology we are able to receive information within a short amount of time. You may not appreciate technology and how it has made getting information out easy unless you has lived your childhood life in a village, where you have to walk for 30 minutes just to pass around information. It was very hard getting information passed around back in the days.
The internet could be the most valuable invention that was made in the modern age. With the force of the web individuals basically can do anything. From learning how to cook to building a car. The possibility is endless. The modernization of the internet can have positive and negative effects on the world.
This made us able to learn about the Romans by looking it up on the internet instead of walking to the library and finding a book on it. Also with the invention of the “Car”. This made it a lot easier to get from point “a” to point “b” but made us lazier and hurt the environment in a horrible way. Although the internet has helped us in some incredible ways it has equally hurt us.
Further, this research was interesting to me because
1. Define research, nursing research, and evidence-based practice, and describe the purposes of research in implementing an evidence-based practice. Research is investigating and studying of materials and sources to establish facts and reach new conclusions or to report knowledge about something. Research can also mean to validate something that already exists based on some kind of theory.
especially in Canada, where a lot of people are immigrated from different parts of the world who leave their family and friends. So the internet is the fastest, easiest and sometimes the only way for them to communicate with their dearest people who are far away from them. Once in a while, it’s impossible to call them because of the time differences, but it can always updated with their news and current situation, see their pictures and also can feel much closer to them. Besides that, the internet definitely helps the immigrants to communicate in their new country, providing information about the new culture and language.
For the secondary sources, I will search books, journals or any type of it from the internet. I will compare the different articles and analyze the arguments. In addition, I will use other research papers with the same topic to find what experts say about this topic. There are two methods of primary research: • survey
Multiple countries throughout the world have internet access at their fingertips and are able to find the answer to their questions instantly. “As of June 2017, 51% of the world’s population has internet access. In 2015, the International Telecommunication Union estimated about 3.2 billion people, or almost half of the world’s population, would be online by the end of the year” (Gordon). Billions of people use the Internet each and every day to research topics, check their social media, and communicate. The nation as a whole has become extremely dependent on technology to do their work and survive through the day.
In only a couple of decades, technology has imbedded itself into people’s lives, to the point it would be difficult to live without using technology. In Neil Postman’s speech “Informing Ourselves to Death,” he explains how not all technology is being used for what its original purpose was, and how people are starting to drown in the useless information technology gives. Postman also makes the claim, “And therefore, in a sense, we are more naïve than those in the Middle Ages, and more frightened, for we can be made to believe almost anything” (5). Though Postman gave this speech about thirty years ago, this accurately describes modern society. Technology was meant to help people learn and improve their lives, but it has instead increased the naivety of the world.
The internet has been around since the 1970s but it wasn’t until the 1990s that it became popular. The internet became a way for people to communicate instantly over great distances. People could also search for information using the internet. The creation of email, social media, and search engines changed the way people all around the world operate. People can now learn, online, anything that they want instead of having to rely on teachers.
