My goal is to obtain a career that will allow me to help people. I 've always taken joy in the nurturing and care of others, therefore I will pursing a career that aligns well with those qualities. Careers such as a registered nurse, or a psychologist of some sort definitely intrigue me, specifically the aspect of these fields that deals with children. Working as a child psychologist, a NI CU nurse, or a pediatric nurse would be a dream come true. Helping to nurture and take care of children is very rewarding in and of itself, although it would be amazing if I could make a career out of it.
Nurse Practitioner, professional health care I wish to pursue because of, caring for people,getting paid a lot, working a set schedule. I have been interested in being a Nurse Practitioner for about a year or two2. I have always had an interest in the medical field,but being a nurse really hooked me, because they are always in need and they are payed well. Being a nurse practitioner has a huge amount of duties some are easy and fun and some are difficult and stressful, you might deal with a tragic injury.(“Common Work Activities”1). I am deciding to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison because I am intrigued by the opportunities the university has to offer. During my time at UW-Madison I hope to participate in intramural sports, get a job, receive an excellent education, and much more. The city life offers a diverse culture and allows you to learn about and to appreciate life. As I want to be a part of the nursing program I would utilize the opportunity to work at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and to work alongside other students trying to achieve the same goal as I am.

As I pursue my career in nursing, the skills and experiences that I have gained from 4-H will continue to play a major role in my life. Planning and organizing, critical thinking, and empathy are definitely needed in order to become an exceptional nurse. It is crucial to be organized when taking care of patients. Paperwork must be adequately filed for each individual patient and any confusion with documents is unacceptable. Inaccurate documentation could potentially lead to medications being misused, which would in turn harm the patient.
I believe there will be many challenging times during my career as a nurse with other cultures. I think it will be important for me to remain educated on the basics of each culture and their beliefs, if I am equipped with at least the fundamentals of their expectations then I can provide better care right off the bat. I also need to make sure I am always patient and respectful when communicating on sensitive cultural conversations with patients and family. I need to be creative in my communication and tailor my care to each patient to provide them with best client-focused care possible. Most importantly, I must never assume, and always ask questions with respect.

My career history has exposed me to a wide array of patient population, medical practices and healthcare settings. With this experience, I have a clear understanding of my personal values and belief as a nurse. I have been in my current role for 2 years as a Nursing Supervisor.
