Basketball is a world-renowned sport and the sport to play by many young and old men and women. Basketball was created in 1891 inside a YMCA. Originally A peach basket and a soccer ball were the materials used to play the newly created game. This was all done by camp counselor James Naismith, who was at that time just trying to make a new game for the children to play. Naismith is the one to thank for the game of basketball we know and loves today. Basketball is one of the most influential sports because of its entertaining aspects that draw attention to up-and-coming athletes, becoming a world-renowned sport, showing that with work anybody may achieve anything, and how it has impacted social and economic life in the world. Kicking off, One reason basketball is so impactful economically is simply because of how many people buy tickets to go to the game. What I mean by this is arenas are getting bigger and tickets are getting more expensive. This means that the NBA is making more money by the second. For example, the Most expensive ticket to go see Lebron James Break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record was $92,000! Another example of why basketball is so influential on the economy is because of the jersey-selling portion of the NBA. Everybody wants to represent their favorite player's jersey so because of this the NBA Is making even more money on jersey sales. Building up on my last reason why the NBA and basketball, in general, are so impactful to the economy is because of NBA player endorsement deals. Whenever there is an up-and-coming basketball star, sports brands do their best to sign these players. This means that the NBA gets to sell these products as well as public market them. This all shows how the growth of one sport can change an economy and millions of lives
